After a successful season at Staatstheater Darmstadt last year, David returns this season working on a range of exciting projects. The season opener of Puccini’s Turandot at the end of August is an epic new production by Valentin Schwarz. In September, David will conduct Naske’s children’s opera Sindbad der Seefahrer in a revival, before playing in a double bill of Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Mark Anthony-Turnage’s Twice Through the Heart. October sees the premiere of Beethoven’s Fidelio, after which David will work on Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, which premieres in December. One of 2020’s highlights will be the premiere of a new production of Wagner’s vast Lohengrin, in which David will also help prepare the chorus.
